I was happy with the way my film posters came out and dicided to take thee style of my Skyfall poster and design another poster for Rooster Teeth, they took my typography tower and made it into a t-shirt so I thought a simpler design would be interesting.

Digital Skills

First post in a while. A few weeks ago I finished my Digital Skills module in which we pulled together a group of design pieces through many tutorials. Here are two examples of my final pieces from earlier in the module.

I was able to produce a professional layout for my document which I think was structured in a simple format.

typography poster

I was asked by the company Rooster Teeth to design another illustration for them to use on T-shirts and posters so I decided it would be a good opportunity to try some typography based illustration work that I learned about in tutorials.

For this design I had to form shapes from blocks of text which was actually quite challenging. below you can see my final design.

Here are my final set of film posters for There Will Be Blood for the Tyneside Cinema. I am quite happy with how they came out and I think the feed back I get from the Tyneside will allow me to change them if necessary.

Hurt Locker and TWBB Poster Development

To continue my work for Tyneside cinema I have started designing the illustrations for my second two posters. I had done some research looking at the company Mondo who specialize in film posters so as to see how a successful poster would look and to get some idea of the style I should try for.

I think a cleaner illustration will work best here as I have seen it working in the pieces above.

SKYFALL

This week I began working on my latest brief which involved making a set of posters for the Tyneside cinema. I have decided to start with the Skyfall poster and below you can see my initial design done on Illustrator using the pen tool and then a coloured version.
I decided that the design wasnt quite eye catching enough so I decided to add more detail, after that didnt work I decided to add the colours manually using the paint brush on Photoshop to create a new more interesting illustration.

Here are a few examples of different structures for the poster with the title in different positions, I am not sure which one works best at the moment but I think when I have all of the other text and information on the poster I will have a better idea of how the whole thing should look.

Pocket of Resistance

A friend of mine recently started a clothing company and asked me to design some t-shirts which would be comprised of the company title and an original illustration on either a black or white T-shirt.I designed three T-shirts and illustrations altogether and I'm quite happy with how they turned out.

The deadline for this project was only a week so I really had to have solid time plan for the work and know what I was going to do each day. It actually took longer than I thought as many of the illustrations I designed were simply too detailed to work on a t-shirt so I had to start with new much cleaner bolder designs.
In the end I spent three days creating the font and illustrations and only one adding the to t-shirts and deciding which colours worked best with each design.

The decision to make the shirts black or white was very important in making the illustration stand out and work to their full potential. I found that the more complex designs worked best on a black t-shirt white the simpler ones were far more striking on white.
